::Departure::

Well, here I am taking the first step towards professionalizing my hobby, creating a blog. I mean, isn't that what everyone does these days? I figure I'd just follow suite; I was feeling kind of left out. Now my newly born blogs' description may seem kind of serious: 'A travel log for my quest to capture a perfect picture; and marking down everything else along the way.' Yeah, that is pretty dramatic. It does truly summarize my goal however, I want to take a perfect picture (in my opinion), and gain as much experience as I can along the way.

However, I doubt any seriousness will ensue. Expect to see sarcasm, overused puns, and ample doses of foolish actions and ridiculous photo shoots! And yes, 0 followers, I'm talking to you. Pay close attention.

Anyways that's enough introduction, you (0 followers...) don't come here to read about me, you come to see pictures! That's what photography blogs do!

I was not kidding when I state this is a departure on my journey to become a decent photographer, I just recently decided to abandon what I deem less important things to achieve my goal. Painfully, I depart with some beloved items to get some green denim paper to buy some much needed equipment. But who says I can't get in some practice doing so?

First Subject: My Best Friend (46" Sanyo LCD 1080p HDTV)

I love to shoot people, especially in 46" of 720p'd World War II or Master Chief deliciousness. But all the same... I can still shoot people in not so tasty 22". So here's the first to go, my TV!

I've seen plenty of product photos, and electronic items always seem to be the same. They're displayed in the most glorious way possible on a glowing white background enticing you to spend your hard-earned money on some circuitry. So I aimed to do just that. But here's a catch-22, I'm selling this TV to buy the equipment I consider necessary to take such a picture. (EX: Canon 430ex's, RadioPoppers, etc.) So I resorted to using much more inadequate and painfully annoying constant lighting with a serious top-of-the-line flash ($75 Vivitar Vintage), attached to a sync cord (Which you think would be a 100% fire-rate, but no, it's a 20% fire rate, oh that's fine; I can sit all day taking pictures of this TV, don't strain yourself, strong Vivitar) for some lighting in my professional studio:

Yes, you've got to admit such a set-up would make even the top-dollar Mac World Magazine cover photographers salivate at the mere sight. I managed to get, in my opinion, an acceptable picture for my tough target market however (Craigslist consumers: The toughest critics). After some polishing up in Photoshop and addition of a scene straight out of my former big-screen-glory game, I've achieved the glowing spectacle of a product image that would make any self-respectable entertainment aficionado throw down the money to purchase. (At least I hope so.)

Second Subject: My Watch.

Well, there's not much to say about this timepiece, it keeps time -- so does my iPhone, so out it goes! Glowing macro shots with lots of shiny silver, almost mandatory.

Well, hopefully these items will soon get swooped up so I can order some equipment and then truly grace you (0 still?..) with some pictures that can hopefully get some constructive critiquing from some of you more experienced lads.

And then of course, take a perfect picture.
